Accommodations

A block of rooms has been reserved at the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel, 480 L’Enfant Plaza SW, Washington, DC 20024, 1-800-635-5065. To obtain the special rates arranged for this conference, $201.00 + 14.5% District of Columbia tax = $230.15 per room per night, reservations must be made no later than Monday, 25 August 2008. Please note that September (and the beginning of October) is still an exceptionally busy tourist period in Washington, DC. It is strongly recommended that you make hotel arrangements as soon as possible to avoid inconvenience.

 

 

Transportation

The three airports servicing the Washington, DC area are Reagan National Airport (4 Metro stops), Washington Dulles International Airport (27 miles) and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (33 miles). Rental cars and taxis are available at all airports. The Metro is the most convenient method of public transportation in Washington, DC and most any attraction (museum, monument, restaurant, etc.) is easily accessable via the Metro (A Metro station is located directly beneath the L’Enfant Plaza Hotel - Click here for the Metrorail Map).

 
   

Weather

The weather in Washington, DC during late September is warm, with daytime highs ranging from 75-80 deg F (23.9-26.7 deg C) and evening lows from 55-60 deg F (12.8-15.6 deg C). September is the third rainiest month of the year, averaging 4.08 inches (10.36cm).
